This mural belongs to Will’s (previous post) sister who is do to arrive in May. This time Mom and Dad didn’t have specific ideas for the theme of the mural other than Mom knew she wanted a white tree. The baby’s furniture was white and the walls a pale, warm tan with white trim so the white tree would work. Her accent colors were a warm spring green, lavender and purple.
Trees are fun, they add color and bring your eye up and around the room. The sketches I did for this room included what I would term a traditional tree. The morning I was to begin painting I awakened from a dream of a white, ornamental weeping tree (my term) with purple and lavender blossoms. When this happens I always mention it to my clients.
As I described it to my client she like the idea so it was a go. The baby’s room now has a very feminine white tree with lavender and purple flowers and buds with spring green leaves. A rather large mushroom house with a path leading to it is below along with several smaller mushrooms with purple or white polka-dots all set in tall grasses of several shades of spring green.
In the opposite corner a nearly six foot tall floppy purple and white tulip wraps the corner with a fanciful butterfly admiring it. Beneath the window a garden grows with purple and white tulips and a mushroom as a focal point.
The fourth wall has another purple and white tulip and on one of the leaves a bumblebee reclines while reading a book. Around the corner stands a tulip designed to be a growth chart.
After finishing a project I feel very blessed to be having so much fun doing the things I love to do.

Mickey,
Thank you so much for the beautiful cards. Will loved his too-he loves to get mail. I want to thank you for making the baby’s room so perfect. I love the feel of it when I am in there and I know the baby will like it too.
Dave thinks it belongs in a Magazine!! I will send you some pictures when the baby gets here-only 2 more weeks!
Take care, Shawna
