The Broadmoor, as always, put on a first class fundraiser for Susan B. Komen for the Cure. This was the first year the Broadmoor hosted the event. Friday evening a cocktail party was hosted by Betty Sexton of Channel 11 News with a silent auction to start things off. Guests enjoyed tennis by Broadmoor Pros Brent Zimmerman and Christopher Ellis, battling against local pros Richard Beard and Jason Kirkland. Dennis Ralston will officiate and provide his “color commentary. And I forgot my camera!!!
Saturday 100 women, or more, participating in the tournament, each team playing four rounds of competitive tennis. After the tennis, the winners were announced (my team lost but I met some great women), we enjoyed a delectable lunch buffet, and delighted in a fashion show by Polo Ralph Lauren and listened to a cancer survivor tell her story.
It was great fun to participate in the tournament and I look forward to hearing how much we raised for such a worthy cause. For those who have lost loved ones or know someone who is suffering from this desease my heart goes out to you. There are several women in my life who are survivors, one special friend who is going through treatment and one that we lost. To all of you my blessings, I am so glad you have been a part of my life. If you are in a position to donate for this cause in what is financially challenging times for many, you may so at http://ww5.komen.org/GetInvolved/Donate.html
